“Toby”, age 71, passed away on May 16, 2011 at Willowbrook Healthcare Center in Yadkinville, N.C. from Alzheimer’s. He was born June 16, 1939 in Roxboro, N.C. to Walter W. Morris, Jr. and Kathleen J. Morris. He grew up in Durham, N.C. and graduated from Durham High School in 1957. He was involved in many activities including football and track. He graduated from N.C. State University in 1962 with a BS in Electrical Engineering, was an avid N.C. State fan and a member of the Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity. Toby was employed a few years at Pratt-Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach, Fl. He spent over 25 years working for IBM in Boca Raton, Fl. and Raleigh, N.C. He served actively in church as a teacher, Deacon, Elder, and Lay Minister.
Toby is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Deal Morris of Winston-Salem, N.C. ; son, Kenneth “Skip” Morris (wife Melanie) and 3 grandsons, Jordan, Curran, and Jameson of Goldsboro, N.C. ; son, Michael Christopher Morris (wife Jennifer) of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, William “Bill” Morris and Peggy of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Durham, N.C.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Toby was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Charmeyne “Tootsie” Morris Phillips.
Family visitation will be from 12 – 2 p.m. at North Haven PFWB Church, 6620 Six Forks Rd, with service to follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011. Interment will be at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens following the service.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local Alzheimer’s Association or North Haven PFWB Church in Raleigh, N.C.
