Timothy James Heckel

Timothy James Heckel of Raleigh, NC, passed away on Dec. 17, 2020. Born in Buffalo, NY, Tim graduated from Niagara University. In college he joined the Army ROTC and volunteered to serve his country in the Vietnam conflict. Rising to the rank of Captain, Tim was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for heroism in battle. He married Ann Marie Rotunda, his devoted wife of 53 years, moved to NC in 1973 and continued a distinguished career at IBM. He and Ann raised two sons, Andrew and David. Tim was an avid fan of the arts, soccer, the NC coast and time with his family.

He is predeceased by his father, Andrew, his mother, Grace and brothers and sister Ellen, Paul and Peter.

Tim is survived by his wife Ann, sons Andrew and David, their wives Tracey and Emily, grandchildren Laura, Emmett, August, and Benjamin, his sister-in-law Janet, brother-in-law Albert DeCesare as well as nephews and niece Stephanie, Dan, Matt, Daniel and James.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Heart Association or the Carolina Ballet.
