Steven John Link

Steven John Link, 61, passed away on November 3, 2023. Best known to his closest family and friends as “Link”, he was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA on August 12, 1962. It was here that he created the best memories of his youth, friendships that would last a lifetime and where he met the love of his life, Linda. Upon graduation, Steve went on to work for IBM in Kingston, NY then back to Philadelphia. In 1993 he moved to Raleigh, NC to work at their offices in Research Triangle Park. With a promise to his wife that they would return to Philadelphia after two years, they chose to stay and raised their family for the past 30 years in Raleigh. Steve went on to work with Concentrix in 2014 after their acquisition with IBM and spent 38 years with the companies that fostered his passion for computers.

Link was best known for his love of electronics. He was a self-taught scientist, electrician and woodworker who was constantly reading for knowledge. If he didn’t know how to do something, he figured it out and mastered it. Something his children are grateful he passed onto them.

Steve was predeceased by his father, LeRoy Link, and mother, Marie Vengoechea (Philadelphia).

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Duffy); devoted daughter, Sarah (Jon) Gilmartin and his son, Patrick; brother, Roy (Philadelphia) and twin sister, Cheryl. He leaves behind a multitude of extended family and dearest friends who brought so much joy to his life.

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, November 15th at 9:00 am, at Sacred Heart Church, 200 Hillsborough St., Raleigh, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
