Sibylla T. Alexander, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 16, 2018 in Raleigh. She was just going to lie down for a short nap and God decided it was his time to call her home, and being a good Catholic she went to him. She was born on April 16, 1935, in Koblenz, Germany to Peter and Katherine Reckenthaeler. She was married for 52 years to the late John Richard Alexander, Jr. and they had one son, John. She was a loving and caring mother, wife and friend. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening and the beauty of nature, and was an avid reader. She loved living at Springmoor Retirement Community, where she participated regularly in exercise classes and shared meals with her many friends. She was a woman of wisdom and quiet strength; her family and friends knew they could come to her for sound advice whenever they faced challenges or difficulties.
She is survived by her son John Michael Alexander, of Raleigh; her sister Elisabeth Diflo, of Stuttgart, Germany; her niece Sibylle Mihailidis and husband Michael, of Koblenz, Germany; nephews Ralf and Michael Diflo, of Stuttgart, Germany; grand-nephews and grand-nieces, Joannis, Eleni and Anna Mihailidis; and many other cousins and friends in Germany.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2 pm in the Auditorium of Springmoor Retirement Community in Raleigh. A private burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove, NC.
