Shirley Ann Nunn Roberson, 87, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on Nov 2, 2024. Shirley was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on Dec. 25, 1936 to Kansas Lorraine Lambert and Russell E. Nunn. She grew up in Bluefield, WV and then moved to Falcon Children’s Home in Falcon, North Carolina.
She met the love of her life, Billy B. Roberson of Dunn, NC while she was playing the piano and organ for the Gospel Tabernacle in Dunn. They were married on Aug 31, 1955 in Falcon, NC. They had been married for 68 years at the time of Billy's passing in February of this year.
She loved her family and NC State Football. She loved going to Holden Beach on vacation with all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending the NC State football games with Billy and her children. Most of all, she loved the Lord and served him endlessly throughout her life.
Shirley attended high school at Emmanuel and graduated in 1955. Afterward she attended a business school. Shirley raised 6 children and helped her husband with all his endeavors, professional and personal. When they moved to Raleigh to open their own store in 1974, mom was the bookkeeper. She helped Billy run Design Materials until she retired with him in 2008.
Shirley was active at the Capital Church in her attendance and giving. She served in many capacities at the church over the years including Children’s Choir director, organist, pianist, choir member, and bookkeeper up until a few years ago.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother Lorraine Lambert, husband Billy Roberson, daughter Stephanie Roberson, and grandchildren Michael Roberson, Jason Carter, and Chris Brafford.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Debbie Roberson of Garner, Susie and husband Mike Carter of Ringgold, Virginia, Patty Roberson of Raleigh, Teresa and husband Doug Pratt of Garner, and son Billy Brian Roberson Jr of Raleigh. She is also survived by her sister Ginny Rodriguez 3 grandchildren, Tres Brafford, Kimberly Pagano, and Rebekah Roberson, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The celebration of life will be held at The Capital Church at 2 pm Friday, Nov 8th. Visitation will be held at 1 pm before the service. Friends can visit with the family following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Falcon Children’s Home. The family would like to thank you for your continued prayers.
