Ruth was born in Salem, Ohio on February 5, 1928, to the late Robert and Naomi (Kent) Mayhew. She graduated from Salem High School in 1946.
Ruth married Jack E. Cramer Jr. on July 2, 1961 and they were married for 51 years before Jack’s passing on December 19, 2012.
She lived the majority of her life in Salem, Ohio. Ruth was an avid bowler and a member of the Salem Area Bowlers Hall of Fame. She loved to read, craft, bake, and was gifted at knitting and crocheting. Her beautiful smile could light up a room.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Jackie (JB) Cramer Barrow of Raleigh, NC; stepdaughters Karen (Ray) Griggy and Phylis (Steve) Smith, both of Leetonia, OH; Kay Williams of Texas; and stepsons Thomas Cramer of Cottondale, AL and Dale Cramer of Salem, OH. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Randel K. McNeal, siblings Betty Abbuhl, Kent Mayhew and Hank Mayhew, stepson Timothy Cramer and granddaughter Lisa (Griggy) Heddleson.
She donated her body to Duke Medical School for the purpose of educating our present and future medical professionals. The family will have a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice.
