Ronald Kimble “Kim” Buchanan, Sr., 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, April 15, 2021. Kim was born June 29, 1931 in Middle Creek, North Carolina to the late Armo Kimble Buchanan and Dorothy Berger Buchanan. He attended Broughton High School, then North Carolina State University, setting multiple basketball records in the 1940s and 50s before serving his country in the United States Army. Kim went on to attend Atlantic Christian College after his military service and retired as a United States Post Office Clerk and Union Steward. Known by family and friends for his love of golf, gardening and old Westerns, Kim adored family gatherings and holidays together more than anything in life as he watched his family grow well into his 80’s.
Kim Buchanan is predeceased by his sister, Julia Marie Buchanan, brother, Armo William Buchanan, daughter, Deborah Lynn Pope, daughter-in-law, Robin Martin Buchanan.
Kim is survived by Betty Hunnicutt Buchanan, son, Ronald Kimble Buchanan, Jr., daughter, Sharon Buchanan Henry, daughter, Kimbo Buchanan Hicks (Buck); Grandchildren, Donald Lee Pope, Jr. (Courtney), Heather Buchanan Green (Frank), Summer Buchanan Bledsoe (Jason) and Andrew Buchanan Henry (Marie); Great-Grandchildren, Colton Newkirk Henry, Sutter Buchanan Green, Chloe Dee “CD” Green, Eden Mae Bledsoe, Solomon Kim Henry, Hadley Grace Green and Florence Elliot Henry as well many very special in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services for Kim Buchanan will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on St. Mary’s Street in Raleigh, NC, Thursday, April 22 at 2pm.
