He is survived by his wife Katie Benton, whom were married for 66 years. He is also survived by his two daughters, Susan B Monk, her husband Michael and Sharon B Wilkinson both of Raleigh NC along with his four beloved grandchildren, Robert and John Monk, and Alex and Margaret Wilkinson. He is also survived by his younger brother, Daniel Benton of Colorado.
Bob was a Veteran of the Korean War and retired from the United States Postal Service after 35 years. In his spare time he loved to fish and golf with his friends but above all, spending time with his four grandchildren brought him his biggest joy.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 26th at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude's and Wounded Warrior Project, his two favorite charities.
