CARY- Rebecca “Becky” Turner Waller, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, surrounded by family at her home in Cary, NC. Born in Lenoir County, Becky met her husband Emmett in first grade and the two became sweethearts for life. Becky, a graduate of Pineland College, married Emmett in 1954. They lived in Kinston with their three children, and later Walnut Cove, NC, before moving their family to Cary in 1969. Becky was employed eighteen years by Hudson Belk as a Sales Associate in the designer and wedding gown department before retiring in 1994. She was an active member of Westwood Baptist Church in Cary.
Mrs. Waller is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Emmett R Waller, Jr., two daughters and one son, all of Cary: Donna W Crook and husband Bryan, Emmett R (Randy) Waller, III and wife Nancy, Amy W Sullivan and husband John; one sister, Grace Learst; one sister-in-law, Eloise Turner; and five grandchildren: Allen Waller of London, UK, Mary Rebecca (Crook) Skinner and husband Chris of Raleigh, Phillip Crook of New York, NY, Rebecca Sullivan of Raleigh and Logan Sullivan of Cary.
Mrs. Waller was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas Turner and Eunice Stroud Turner, one brother and three sisters.
A celebration of her life will be held at Westwood Baptist Church, 200 Westhigh Street in Cary on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. A private burial will take place earlier in the week. Memorials in her honor may be directed to Westwood Baptist Church Bus Fund or to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, in lieu of flowers.
