Born March 29, 1956 in Newton, North Carolina, Rebecca graduated from Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, NC. She attended Meredith College in Raleigh and received at BA in Art History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An avid gardener and walker, she also enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and participating in her garden club, book club, and “God Talk” Bible study group. As an enthusiastic community volunteer, her many activities included the Stephen Ministry, Junior League of Raleigh, NC Museum of Art docent, and Poe Center Antiques Show co-chair. She proactively immersed herself in her son's schools activities, and was a side line cheerleader until the very last game!
Rebecca (Bec) is survived by her husband of 31 years, Colin Campbell Brown II: sons, Colin Campbell Brown III, Issac Alexander Brown, and Layton Hamilton Brown; sisters, Janice Catherine Williams and Rachel Ann Williams, as well as one nephew and fives nieces. Her parents, Reba Moore and Richard Alexander Williams and brother, R. Alex Williams, Jr. preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Monday May 19th from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm at 2815 Lassiter Mill Road in Raleigh.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 20th at 2:00 pm at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh.
