I was saddened to hear of Phil's passing recently. I believe we went all the way back to preschool together as friends in Madison, Va. We bonded over sports, and I remember learning about UVa football and basketball from him and his dad just as I was becoming a big fan when I was about 10 or so. He also was one of the friends that was always at the high school football games when we were kids. It was always fun to toss the football around with him at the games.

Phil was a great guy all throughout school and a good friend, but we did lose touch after graduation. So it is great to read these memories of him to see the kind of man he became, and it is not surprising to me in the least. I am heartbroken to learn he has left behind a wife and two kids.

My heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Phil's friends and family in this great time of need.

This is very sad news to hear. I worked with Phil at Montgomery County Government in Maryland. Phil was a very impressive finance professional and very friendly and helpful colleague. He seemed to gravitate toward and excel at the most challenging and complex assignments. Prayers for his family and loved ones. 

I liked working  with Phil at MCG.  He always was helpful and dedicated.  His southern sayings were always funny and new to me, but they were great. 

We have just learned of Phil’s passing. I had the honor of working with Phil when he was with Montgomery County, Maryland government. Phil was a consummate professional and incredibly intelligent. He rose quickly, both within Finance and within the County, excelling at everything he took on.  He made incredibly positive contributions to the County, which are still in effect today. Most importantly, he was a wonderful, kind, and genuinely nice person.  His smile would light up a room.  And he beamed when he spoke of his family, and his first child. So many of his coworkers and friends here were devastated when he chose to relocate and leave the County in March of 2018. But I remember talking with him at his going away party, and being really happy for him because he was so happy and looking forward to the next stage of his life and new opportunities that awaited him and his family. That sorrow we felt at his departure was nothing compared to the grief that his friends and coworkers now experience, for Phil and for his family. We are all better for having worked with and known Phil.  Heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to Phil’s wife and family.

This is a huge loss to his family and to our world.  Phil was a brilliant, kind, and honorable being who touched everyone around him in a profound way.   I knew him for a short few years while working with him at Montgomery County Government in Maryland but he has left a huge impression on me and his sweet smile, generous heart and wealth of knowledge about his field is what I will always remember.

I was very sad to receive the news of Phil's passing. I'm an entrepreneur in California and Phil was our accountant. Our interactions were only over the past year, but I'm so happy that I had an opportunity to know Phil and work with him. What immediately struck me about Phil was his integrity and kindness. I knew that I could count on Phil for anything, and he was always dependable and honest. He was also one of the most kind and gentle individuals you could meet, and I know he must have also been a wonderful husband, father, friend, and son. I am heartbroken for his family and will be thinking of them and praying for them. God bless and Godspeed, Phil. You were a good person and we will miss you.

Phil was very clearly a man of integrity, which showed in his professional work consistently. I worked with Phil starting in early 2020, and recall several helpful moments when he managed to field a phone call as well as a holding his new baby. He spoke of his family fondly and frequently. He will surely be missed by many. To his loved ones, please accept my sincerest condolences for your tragic loss.

I only met Phil a little earlier this year, but I liked him instantly. He had such an easy going nature, and managed to project total confidence in his abilities as a CPA, while still being extremely likable and relatable.  He was so helpful, right off the bat, and I truly looked forward to working with him moving forward. I am stunned to learn of his passing and would like to extend my sincerest condolences to his family. Phil mentioned his family - his wife and kids - in one way or another every time we spoke. It was clear he adored them.  Please know you’re in my thoughts through this devastating time. 

I started working with Phil earlier this year. I spent a great deal of time researching who to work with. My immediate impression of him was that he was responsive and professional, but most importantly that his family came first.  During our first call he explained that he had a new baby and his response times, while always within a reasonable amount of time, could come at "odd hours" while the baby was sleeping, etc. His desire to balance his professional life and his family life was admirable and I think he strived to do that well. He won my business immediately. During several of our subsequent calls I could hear the children in the background and there was never a reprimanding tone as they vied for his attention. He seemed to truly delight in his children. I am deeply saddened that he is no longer with us. My heart and prayers go out to your family.  I pray comfort and healing for your broken hearts.
