Philip G. Deely, Lt. Col., United States Army (ret), age 74, of Roswell, Ga passed away on November 30, 2018 at Duke Medical Center. Phil was born in Philadelphia, Pa and moved to Arlington, Va. when he was 7. He attended St. Ann’s Grade School, graduated from Dennis J. O’Connell High School, Arlington, Va. He then graduated from East Tennessee University in 1967. He is predeceased by his parents, James P. and Anna Marie Deely, his two sisters Patricia Grouge and Molly English, two brothers James P. Deely, Jr. and Fr. John Deely, OMI.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jane Embrey Deely of Roswell, Ga. and three children, Elizabeth Rosser (Robert), Kevin Deely (Monique), and Ann Bolden (William). He also had six grandchildren, Davis, Caroline and Zachary Rosser; Ryan and Colin Deely; and Sullivan Bolden. He is also survived by his brothers Michael and Brian (Donna) Deely.
Phil served on active duty during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He was assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve and retired from the USAR as a Lt. Col. Phil worked in private industry as an executive in supply chain management and logistics.
Phil and his wife Jane raised their three children in Atlanta, Ga. In 2010 he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and received a lung transplant in 2012 for which he was ever thankful to his donor and the Lung Transplant Team at Duke University Medical Center. Please remember to be an organ donor.
A Funeral Mass and Interment with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
