She was born February 12, 1940 in High Point to Raymond Chambers and Iris H. Chambers. After graduating from high school, she attended ECU and received her teaching degree. She taught for many years in Raleigh, then switched careers to IT. Peggy poured herself fully into all endeavors and used her God given talents.
She was a member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, having served with the bereavement team, making prayer shawls, and volunteering in the church office.
Peggy always viewed the glass as half full. When adversities reared, her favorite saying was…"This too shall pass.”
Peggy was a loving wife, aunt and friend to many. She is survived by a niece and nephew, Deborah Chambers and Ray Chambers, both of High Point. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bill Underwood and a beloved niece, Beverly Chambers.
Peggy Underwood will forever be missed by us all. To know her was to love her. Her faith in God carried her throughout her life.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 5th at 2:00 P.M. at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27608.
Services by Brown-Wynne, St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh.
