Peggy Herndon Brown

She was born in Apex, NC to the late Raymond and Pansy Herndon on February 13, 1933. This loving family also included two brothers (Jack-deceased and Bill-deceased) and one sister (Dot).

After graduating high school, she met our father. They married and moved to Raleigh, NC where they lived in the same house for nearly 60 years and raised the three of us.

During their “empty nest” years, our parents loved to be active in their church (Westover United Methodist), travel the world, spend time at the beach, go boating and hunt for treasures at yard sales. After our dad’s passing, mom continued to be active in their church until physical limitations slowed her down. She always loved a good game of bridge, but that took a back seat to times she could spend with her grandchildren (Robbie, Brandy and Alex).

She is survived by her children, Robert Vance Brown III (wife Petra Burghardt, sons Robert Patrick Brown, Alexander Benham Brown) of Garner, NC, Deborah Brown Cox (husband Garry Cox, deceased, and daughter Brandy Leigh Cox) of Benson, NC and Matthew Wayne Brown (wife Lee Brown) of Melbourne, FL and her sister Dorothy Herndon Matthews (husband John Howard Matthews, deceased, and daughter Sandra Lee Matthews) of Cary, NC, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside funeral service was held on Friday, October 7, 2022 in Raleigh Memorial Park. Officiating was Pastor Alan P Swartz.
