Patricia Ann Morrison, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 20 at the age of 73. Pat was born in Panama City, Florida in 1949 to Thomas and Catherine Pfeiffer. She lived in England, France and the Philippines during her father’s U.S. Air Force career before the family settled in Orlando, Florida.
Always loving, kind and generous with her heart and her time, Pat was devoted to her family and her many friends. She continued her lifelong love of travel by seeing the world with Jim, her husband of 25 years, and treasured time at home with daughter Stephanie and her siblings, nieces, and nephews. Pat enjoyed spending time with her family while gathered around a pot of tea, a tradition passed along by her Irish mother.
Pat graduated from the University of Central Florida with bachelor’s and master’s degrees and dedicated her career to helping children as a social worker and high school guidance counselor. Her most gratifying work was leading an admissions program that helped students continue their educations by going to college.
She also volunteered with community organizations including the Assistance League of the Triangle Area, where she continued to help students through a college scholarship program and by collecting and distributing books to elementary schools. At the beginning of the new school year, Pat could be found filling students’ backpacks and measuring them for new shoes.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Catherine Pfeiffer. She is survived by her husband, Jim Morrison, daughter Stephanie Hawco, brother Michael Pfeiffer and sister-in-law Petra Pfeiffer, sister Catherine Hertz and brother-in-law Doug Hertz, her nieces and nephews, and their children.
The family would like to thank Transitions LifeCare for the care and compassion they showed Pat in her final days. Friends and loved ones who wish to honor Pat’s memory can consider making a donation in her name to the Assistance League of the Triangle Area.
