Nancy Louise Rippey Wooten, 85, a loving servant of God, went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2019. Born on August 17, 1933 in Daytona Beach, Florida; she was the daughter of the late Milton and Louise Carter Rippey. She graduated from Mainland High School, a member of the marching band.
Nancy met Ed Wooten in Daytona Beach, FL and married on Sept. 14, 1957. Each time Ed received a promotion at work, it meant a move: she faithfully and willingly made the best of these moves for the family by always finding a church to attend. They lived in Jacksonville, FL, Athens, Ga, Macon, Ga, Raleigh, NC, Dayton Ohio and then back to Raleigh in 1992 when they started the Wooten Insurance Agency - a firm specializing in Medicare Supplement insurance and Long-Term Care planning.
A proud grandmother, she was always willing to babysit her grandchildren, let them accompany her on a trip or meet them at the beach. She cherished spending time with her twelve great grandchildren as well.
Another passion of Nancy's was her church family at Raleigh First Assembly Church. She loved working with children by teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, volunteering in the nursery and most recently working with Royal Family Kids Camp.
She is survived by her devoted husband: Cecil "Ed" Wooten; daughters: Susan Gainey Baldschun (Kent), of Lookout Mountain, GA and Ginny Gainey Weant (Dan), of Cary, NC; grandchildren: Jane Baldschun Harper (Ben), of Chattanooga, TN, Emily Baldschun Pettit, of Chattanooga, TN, John Baldschun (Jill), of Flintstone, GA, Peter Baldschun, of Lookout Mountain, GA, Patrick Weant, of Louisville, KY, Aaron Weant (Hope), of Cary, NC, Kyrie Weant, of Charlotte, NC; and twelve great grandchildren; siblings: Ginny Gurley, of Blairsville, GA, Verlinda Dreka, of Daytona Beach, FL; and other family and friends.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care of Garner and the assisted living staff at the Cardinal at North Hills for the loving care she received while in their care. They would also like to thank her small group friends from church who were like a family to her.
Private Services were held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial in Nancy's memory may be made to the Royal Family Kids Camp. Please mail donations to the Raleigh First Assembly Church - 2660 Yonkers Rd - Raleigh, NC 27604 (memo line to read Royal Family Kids Camp).
