The wind howled, the seas churned, and the motorcycles roared the day Michael Jay Cushman, Jr. was born. Cush, as he was known to his friends and enemies alike, was many things in his legendary life: biker, football player, craftsman, tattooed heathen, diesel-head, father, and husband. He faced every challenge with verve. His beard could make a lion cry.
Together with his wife Kristen, Cush created a life built on love, openness, and skull tattoos. He was wild, funny, daring, and a champion to all misfits and underdogs. There was no engine he couldn’t fix, and no road he wouldn’t drive — none more happily than the 12-hour round trip he took every other weekend to visit his treasure, his daughter McKinley. There was nothing he loved more than being her father.
A visitation for this formidable man will be held at 11am, followed by a memorial service at 12pm, at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home and Crematory (300 St. Mary's St., Raleigh) on Saturday, February 12, 2022. A reception will be held at The American Legion Post #1 (3600 Lee Rd, Raleigh) following the service.
The family requests that any flower arrangements sent be either rainbow-colored or all black, to match Cush’s sleek and playful essence. Any monetary donations in his name should be made in support of a college scholarship for McKinley: everloved.com/life-of/michael-cushman/donate/
