She is survived by two children, Patricia Starling Graetz (Ralph) and Berry Starling (Coleen); also, four grandchildren: Melanie Frost, Adam Graetz, Chloe Starling and Shelly Starling, and two great- grandchildren, Merritt and Collins Frost.
She was pre-deceased in 2010 by her husband of 62 years, Norwood Starling.
Mary was born on July 19, 1924, in Sunbury, NC, daughter of the late Maude and Charles McCarthy. She moved to Raleigh to attend Hardbarger Business College. After graduating she worked as a legal secretary in NC State Government. She then married and lovingly raised her family.
Mary was a longtime member of Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church and the Carolina Country Club. She enjoyed playing golf, reading, watching all kinds of sports, and spending time with family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, at 3:00 P.M. at Magnolia Glen Senior Community, in the Craft Room.
