Marjorie (Maggie) Cunningham Murray

Marjorie (Maggie) Cunningham Murray, born February 11, 1951, daughter of the late Catherine Rice Cunningham and Jack P. Cunningham, passed away on December 22, 2018. She is survived by her siblings Pat Cunningham of Lawrenceville, GA; Cathy Belville, her husband John and daughter Dana of Atlanta, GA; and Jeff Cunningham of Thetford, VT; stepdaughter Kathy Murray Pearce and her daughter Sarah of Benson, NC; stepson Jeff Adams, his wife April and their children Elizabeth and Parker of Crestview, FL. She was predeceased by her beloved husbands Joe Murray and Tom Adams. She also leaves behind her mischievous golden doodle, Chewy.

Maggie was born in Greenville, SC, grew up in Atlanta, and began working for IBM in 1973. Her career took her to Los Angeles, San Francisco, South Carolina, Connecticut and finally Raleigh in 1987. She worked in a variety of areas in IBM including litigation, benefits, immigration, and human resources. She retired from IBM India as HR manager for employees working in the US.

Maggie was a wonderful cook, a voracious reader, and avid video game player. After retirement she found a new passion, volunteering at Urban Ministries of Wake County. Most of all, she was a loving sister, wife, stepmother and friend.

The memorial service will be held on February 9 at 2 PM at First Baptist Church, 99 N Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC 27603. Visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
