Lula Mae “Lu” was called to her heavenly home on July 29, 2015, just three days from her 96th birthday. “Lu” was born on August 1, 1919, to the late D.T. and Ada Wicker Marks in Sanford, NC. She was a precious and lov¬ing Christian lady- a Proverbs 31 woman! Her love for her Savior always was evident on her face and in her actions. Family was her priority. She was the happiest when she spent time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
“Lu” married her high school sweetheart, Avril Johnson and they had two daughters, Faye J. Sprinkle and Gayle J. Hines. Avril died in a car accident when their girls were quite young. She was a stay-at-home Mom until her younger daughter entered high school. She worked for Belk 22 years before retiring from the Credit Office. Many years later, “Lu” married William T. Clark whom she met while working at Belk.
She is survived by her hus¬band Bill Clark, her daughters Faye and Gayle, “son of her heart” Roy Colston, 4 grand¬children who lovingly called her “GiGi”, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 stepsons Raymond (Tena) and Brian, and 3 step-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.
