Louise Stallings Blake, 86, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016, in Raleigh, NC. Born in Nash County on August 1, 1929, she was the second of the seven children of James H. Stallings and Ruby Elizabeth Batchelor Stallings. After graduating from Spring Hope High School, Ms. Blake attended Campbell College and taught second grade for two years before marrying in 1949. She married Carl Thomas Blake and they had two daughters.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years and daughters, Debbi and Beth, all of Raleigh. Mrs. Blake is also survived by her son-in-law, Alan Handley, and two granddaughters, Erin Handley and Alana McLean. Erin and Mac McPherson have one daughter, Peyton Elizabeth; Alana and her husband Jeremy have two daughters, Taylor Elizabeth and Lorelei Fay. Mrs. Blake is also survived by her brother Harvey Stallings (Carol Jean) of Nashville, her sister Janet Martin (Charles) of Oak Island, sisters-in-law Carolyn Stallings of Oxford, Miriam Blake of Raleigh, Stella Blake of Jacksonville, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Louise Blake was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. We will dearly miss her.
A visitation will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home in Raleigh, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 22, 2016, with a service to follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National MS Society, PO Box 4594, New York, NY 10163-4594.
