Our beloved mother, Linda Lee Chambers Thompson, passed away at the age of 83 on September 16, 2022 after a 3 month long battle from a traumatic heart incident that proved to be too much even for the fighter she always had been in life. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for others when needed. She was a decades long member of the Raleigh, NC community where she called home.
Mother was born to parents William and Esther Chambers in 1938 in West Jefferson, Ohio where she also graduated High School.
Linda is survived by her sister Willa Chambers of Westerville, Ohio and three children: Kelly (Rowdy) Joseph; Tally (Kathy) Gallogly; Dennis (Susan) Gallogly. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Also, as someone who had an insatiable appetite for learning, she collected degrees from The Ohio State University with a BS and MS in Nursing and an MBA. During her career she had dual roles both as a practicing Registered Nurse in the hospital as well as a high-level administrator and policy maker to facilitate the profession she loved deeply.
In addition, she had a second career as a Licensed Massage Therapist that blended her desire to help others as well as her passion for spirituality and connectedness.
Exercise and fitness were paramount in her life from an early age. Ever the athlete she was part of the running wave in the 70’s that she took to like a fish to water. Logging too many miles to count along with multiple marathons. As the running faded due to the rigors of the years she transitioned to brisk walks and weightlifting ever working toward her healthy lifestyle goals.
As the matriarch of a large family, she so loved to visit with us all as well as host the biennial ‘Family Trip to the Beach’. On these trips we were gifted the time and space to truly enjoy each other as a family and continue to create new, deeper bonds and compile great memories.
Linda was also part of the Search for God Study Group, a spiritual group in Raleigh, that created a tight community of like-minded individuals to share and cultivate deeper connections with community and life. As well as the Triangle ARE Planning team.
To honor Linda’s memory, we are holding a celebration of her life on October 15,2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Brown- Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, N.C.27609. We invite anyone who knew her to attend and remember her wonderful life.
There will also be a graveside ceremony in West Jefferson, Ohio at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery on October 29th, 2022 at 10:30am.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Raleigh Rescue Mission, www.Raleighrescue.org, Doctors Without Borders https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org or Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC , www.foodbankcenc.org in our mothers name.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brownwynneeastmillbrook.com for the Thompson family.
