Linda Edwards Bryant passed away on January 21, 2016. After enduring a long illness, she is once again at peace. Born in Spring Hope, Linda was voted most likely to succeed among her High School class of 1960. That year she married Wayne R. Bryant, and the two shared 55 years of great success in life, love, faith and family. Linda was a Lab Tech who enjoyed caring for patients at North Hills Internal Medicine with technical skill and a good joke. She was a musically gifted alto and pianist. She used that gift to benefit her church and community through theater and the performing arts. She played in musical productions of Raleigh’s Theatre in the Park, and delighted us all for 10 years as the Baker’s Wife in Ira David Wood’s A Christmas Carol. Over the course of 20 years, she served as the Minister of Music at Hillcrest Baptist, First Baptist Aberdeen, Zebulon Baptist and interim at Trinity Baptist Church. As the director of adult and youth choirs, theatre productions, choral and hand bell ensembles, she taught others to experience the beauty of being in harmony, and the joy of making music in thanksgiving to God whom she loved. She was always ready to extend that love to everyone she would meet with a warm hug and laughter. Linda was a faithful daughter, sister, and friend. She was a devoted and caring wife. She was a strong, compassionate and unconditionally loving mother. She was a deeply adoring grandmother, who gave constant encouragement, joyfully listened to every detail, and was quick with a song and a joke. With a sharp wit and a powerful voice, we never knew what to expect, but we relied on her strength, her joy, her love and her faith.
Linda was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Michelle Bryant and her parents, Spencer E. Edwards and Rebecca C. Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; children, Jennifer Milak (Al) and Natalie Rimmer (Chad); brother, Wallace Edwards (Martha); sister, Pamela Peele (Phil); and grandchildren, Graycen and Ella Milak, Paul Michael and Luke Rimmer.
We would like to thank the staff of Raleigh Rehab for the care they gave to Linda and Wayne for the past two years.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 26th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, January 27th at Trinity Baptist Church with a graveside service at 2pm that afternoon at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue.
