Lester Curtis Deans Sr.

Lester was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked in the liquor business for over 30 years as a representative for the distillery distributors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf with his friends. He also loved to play his guitar and always enjoyed entertaining by playing and singing for people. Lester was fondly referred to as “Poppy” by his grandchildren.

Lester is survived by his loving wife, Gail Deans; sons, Lester Curtis Deans, Jr. and Mark Ashton Deans (Robin Nichols); step-daughter, Linda Williams Bellmann (Richard); five grandchildren, Nicole Deans, Morgan Deans (Daniel Ta), Mark Deans II (Hannah Catrell), Wanda Evans and Laurie Evans (Neil Williams); and two great grandchildren, Dylan Ta and Maverick Deans.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 6:00-9:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 1:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
