Ret. Lt. Col. Larry E. Scott, 68, of Raleigh passed away at his residence March 25, 2015. He was born in Knox County, Illinois the son of the late Lawrence B. and Marian L. (Kreitzer) Scott.
Larry was a retired US Army Lt. Colonel serving over 19 years for his country. He served in the Vietnam War and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and the Meritorious Award. He graduated high school from Hinsdale High School, DePauw University and also Indiana University where he obtained his masters. During his years of college he was the captain of Sigma Nu and also played college football. Larry worked for 20+ years at NC State as a physical education teacher.
He was an avid sport fan and enjoyed golfing.
Larry is survived by his two siblings: John M. Scott and his wife Cindy, of Illinois, and Marianna L. Holm and her husband Harrison of Illinois; niece, Laura Holm; and nephews, Adam and Steven Scott both of Illinois.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 Saint Mary’s St., Raleigh, NC 27605.
