Kathleen McGuire Christian "Kat", age 56 peacefully passed away May 30th, leaving the world a better place for having been here. Her smile, enthusiasm and optimistic outlook brightened the lives of everyone she met. Born in Chapel Hill, she grew up in Greensboro and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1980. After college, she worked for The News and Observer where she met the love of her life, RobertGlenn Christian, and married him the same year. After that she worked for The Leader magazine where she started her career in writing. Her wit and creativity led her to work with her husband at Christian & Associates where she worked for 15 years as Creative Director. She later worked at The North Carolina Railroad company where she served as Public Affairs Director. Kat grew up a devoted horse lover and prior to her illness was an avid horseback rider.
She is is survived by her husband of 30 years Robert Glenn Christian, son Robert "Glenn" Christian, Jr., daughter Kendall Werth and her husband Jade Werth, and her dogs, Coco and Rubie. She is also survived by two sisters: Amanda Willis of Folly Beach, South Carolina and Amy McGuire of Asheboro, North Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents, Aubrey and Margery "Marty" McGuire from Greensboro.
The family is indebted to her caregiver and friend Barbara Franklin.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3:00 pm at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
