Joseph Franklin Hardee, Jr., Joe, 65, of Raleigh, died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at home of natural causes. He was born August 30, 1948 to Fannie Poe Hardee and Joseph Franklin Hardee, Sr. Joe graduated from Millbrook High School in 1967 and then attended Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, NC.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army Infantry and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked in the family business Wynn’s Camptown and Marina. Joe retired from the North Carolina State Department of Revenue after 20 years of service. He was a member of North Raleigh United Methodist Church. In the past he volunteered with the Bay Leaf Fire Department.
Joe is survived by his mother, Fannie Poe Hardee; brother, Robert C. Hardee, Sr. and his wife Susan; nephews, Robert C. Hardee, Jr. and his wife Emily, Michael M. Hardee, and Christopher W. Hardee; and great nephew, Calvin Hardee.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Franklin Hardee, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at North Raleigh United Methodist Church, 8501 Honeycutt Rd., Raleigh, NC 27615. The family will receive visitors starting at 1:45 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
