He is survived by his wife, Ginger Wade Dow; brother, Charlie Dow and wife, Judy; sister, Beth Simmons and husband, Brad; and sister, Janet Dow.
John graduated from ECU in 1981 and was a member of TKE fraternity. While in college at ECU, John and Ginger met. John enjoyed traveling and playing with his Labrador retrievers.
A memorial service will be 2pm Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
