Miss Jo Anne Smith, 65, long time resident of Raleigh, N. C, died at her home on August 28, 2018, Jo Anne was the second child born to W. Henry and Nell B Smith (deceased) in Darlington, SC. Miss Smith was a math teacher in Wake County at Broughton high school as well as Governor Morehead School for the Blind. She was a 1970 McClenaghan High graduate, earned both a BA and Masters in Elementary Education and a Specialist for the visual impaired at Francis Marion University.
Jo Anne is survived by two sisters, Sharon S McElveen of Ellijay, GA and Marcia S Knight of Blythewood, SC, a nephew Allen Knight, and a niece, Leslie M Bell and great nephews, Blake Knight, Luke Knight, Jackson Bell and Bryan Bell and a very special friend, Mike Sherrer.
Memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Rd. 27615 on Saturday the 1st at 11:00 am with visitation following the service.
Miss Smith was involved in supporting FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Jobs for Life, and a Sunday School and Bible Study teacher. She was a supporter of cultural arts. Miss smith enjoyed painting ,music and the theater.
