James Harry Prevette Sr.

He was a graduate of Scotts High School and then served in WWII with the US Army for 2 years.

He then graduated from NC State, worked for the NC extension service and finished his career at Pine State Creamery, where he worked for over 40 years. He was an active member of Ridge Road Baptist church, where he served in many capacities. He was also a member of the Raleigh Host Lions club for 65 years and served as the chairperson for the Blind and Sight Services Committee and collected over 80,000 pairs of glasses for the visually impaired.

He is predeceased by his parents, James Eli and Bertha Williams Prevette. He is survived by his wife, Helen Gillispie Prevette; son, James Harry Prevette Jr, (Edla); daughter, Janice Prevette Bean (Rodney); and grandchildren, James Zachary and Adam Lewis Prevette, Christopher James and Ashley Lynn Bean.

A Funeral Service will be held at Ridge Road Baptist Church, 2011 Ridge Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607, on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 2pm. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials made be made to Ridge Road Baptist Church.
