He was born December 13, 1922 in Newark, NJ to Oscar and Josephine Liesiewski.
Harold proudly served his country in World War II in the Merchant Marines and was honorably discharged. After his return from the war, he began working as a Machinist for Bendix Corporation. He married the love of his life Bernice Simpson on August 16, 1947 in Asbury Park, NJ. In 1957, he was accepted as a trainee in Personnel and Industrial Relations with Bendix, which was the profession he remained in for the rest of his working life. Harold graduated from Monmouth College now known as Monmouth University in 1963. In 1978 Harold and Bernice moved to Raleigh where he began working for Stackpole Components until his retirement in 1994.
Harold was an avid golfer and he was a Charter Member of Wildwood Green Golf Club. Upon retirement, Harold and his wife enjoyed many years as members of Tarheel Seniors Golf, traveling to tournaments around the state, including Pinehurst and Mid-Pines. Harold will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by everyone blessed to have known him.
Harold is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Bernice Ladd; daughter, Michelle Bogan and son, David Ladd.
Harold is survived by his son, Harold E. Ladd, II; brother-in-law, Kevin Bogan and his wife Anna; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 919-783-7128. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
