Gail was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, William Read Gilmore, and mother to her three daughters, Laura Christine Gilmore, Courtenay Read Gilmore Wilson, and Amy Courville Gilmore. She found immense joy in her family, especially her cherished granddaughters, Madeline Kate Wilson and Courtenay Jane Wilson.
Gail shared a close bond with her four sisters, Susan (Hank) Baldwin, Joyce Hayes, Kathy (Kent) Craig, and Debra (David) Yates, with whom she maintained a daily tradition of vibrant, loving conversations that kept them connected no matter the distance. Their unwavering support and shared memories brought her immense happiness and strength throughout her life.
Gail shared her sharp intellect and passion for education throughout her years as a middle and high school math teacher. Once retired, she remained dedicated to helping others through individual math tutoring, including to several of her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eloise Pike Courville and Robert J. Courville, whose love and guidance shaped the woman she became, her sister, Mary Ann Courville, and her brother-in-law, Nathan Hayes.
Funeral services to celebrate Gail’s life will be held on Saturday, April 26th, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC, 27612. Family and friends are invited to honor a remarkable woman whose kindness, dedication, and love left an indelible mark on all. A reception will follow the service in the reception room at Mitchell Funeral Home.
