Frank received his Bachelor’s Degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 1959 and his MBA from Florida State in 1967. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy with over 3 years of active duty service on the USS Saratoga before joining the Naval Reserves for 20 years until his retirement in 1980.
Frank retired from Bank of America in 2001 after 34 years of dedicated service as a wealth manager. Frank was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church for almost 20 years and taught Sunday School for the last several years. In his retirement he enjoyed working with the church, playing tennis and golf, traveling and occasional deep sea fishing trips, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Frank will be remembered as a dedicated man who led by example. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He possessed a sharp wit, an easy charm and a knack for keeping the whole room laughing even during the toughest of times. Most of all, he always put his family before himself and will be missed deeply by everyone blessed to have known him.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John and Jim Hooper.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Jean S. Hooper whom he married on May 27, 2006 at Trinity Baptist Church; children, Chris Hooper and wife Christie, Stephanie Hooper Leroy and husband Scott, Colleen S. Najm and husband Rich; and Cathy S. Houser and husband Tony; grandchildren, Arlynn, Savannah, Kristin, Cathleen and husband Aaron, Cameron, Morgan, Michael and Katie; sister, Georgia McKinney; and other loving family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Trinity Baptist Church 4815 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
