Floyd Stamm, age 82, passed away at his daughter and son-in-law’s home in Raleigh, NC on Thursday, June 27, 2013. Floyd Stamm was born August 2, 1930 in Oak Park, Illinois to the late Carrie and Floyd Stamm. He served in the 101st Airborne during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Sergeant and also played in the 1st Army Band.
Floyd was called into the ministry in 1970 and served on the mission field in Zambia, Malawi and South Africa for 25 years. After retiring from the mission field Floyd was the minister at the First Christian Church, Mt. Auburn, Illinois and the First Christian Church, Mt. Vernon, Indiana.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Joan; daughters, Carrie and husband, John Nicolson and Laura and husband, Tom Thurmbuchler; son, Paul Stamm and wife, Kim; and grandchildren, Craig, Caleb, Joshua, Noah, Isabella and Thomas.
After retiring from the ministry Floyd and Joan moved to North Carolina and lived with their daughter Laura and husband Tom who were his primary care givers.
Floyd is predeceased in death by his eldest son, Gerald.
A graveside service will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:30AM.
