Brenda, I was saddened to read about Chuck in the Ledger. I have many fond memories of him and you as well. I also remember your mother fondly. It's so sad to be losing so many of our classmates. Hope to maybe see you one day. Love, Gail Ashworth Warren.

I met Chuck in the early 80's, when I became more than just a card carrying member of the State Employees Association.  Because we both worked for the Division of Health Services in Raleigh, we were assigned to the same district.  Chuck was serving in a leadership role in the district, at the time, and he very quickly put me to work.  Sometimes I would think that Chuck thought I was a personnel employee  because he often included me in meetings with other personnel persons. Over the years, he supported me in my efforts to move up in the ranks within the district, and then within the association itself at the statewide level.  In retirement, Chuck would come to the annual meetings and serve as my parliamentarian.   We talked periodically to discuss state government and SEANC, and the changes witnessed within both.
He will be missed by all of us who had an opportunity to interact with him.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Chuck's death.  My first job in state government was in a position Chuck had just left when he was promoted.  Following Chuck in this position in the NC Division of Health Services resulted in developing a close personal and professional relationship with him.  He was never too busy to offer guidance and to share his expertise in the analysis and classifications of jobs with me.  I had a great teacher and mentor.  Chuck's imprint on state government is indelible not just because of his success in human resources but also because of his steadfast advocacy for state employees as a former SEANC President.  I will always remember the jokes he cracked as well as his very wry sense of humor - he was highly respected and much admired in so many ways.  He will be missed, but he sure left an important legacy as a skilled HR administrator and champion for state employees. 

I first met Chuck in the late 1970's.   We were fellow HR Division Managers at North Carolina DHHS.  (At that time it was referred to as Division Personnel Managers at the Department of Human Resources).   Chuck was  older and more experienced and helped me to grow in the job.   We became friends  and stayed friends for over 40 years, along with too many other HR employees from the old "DHR" days to mention in this message.   You know who you are.  Chuck and I shared many good times together, usually with other HR employees from the days in DHHS or from the Department of Insurance when we worked there together.   Chuck was a people person and always well liked.   He was very active in the State Employees Association and became President.  I  remember vividly the convention at which he was elected in Charlotte.  He was an excellent SEANC President and worked closely with Governor Hunt on issues of interest to state employees.  He had experience working with DHHS, Insurance, and the Department of Revenue.   Chuck became good friends with former Insurance Commissioner Jim Long and they shared many laughs.   In addition to his career as a state employee and SEANC leader
, Chuck was also very proud of his military and reserve service.   At the top of his list though, was his family.  He was very happy with his wife Dot and always so proud of his daughters.   I will miss Chuck and the many good times we had together. 

I was not fortunate enough to meet Mr. Hunt, but I have the honor to work with , Lara.  My heart and prayers go out to your family.  

I was not fortunate enough to meet Mr. Hunt, but I know his wonderful daughter, Lara. If he was anything like her, I know he was a very kind and loving guy. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.  Looks like you have many wonderful memories to cherish. 

I'm so sorry for your loss! Bryant was a good friend to many of our classmates.  He had such a kind spirit and ready smile. It was always fun to be on his side in a neighborhood snowball fight.
