Emily Ann Stone Tew, age 92, of Raleigh, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 peacefully at her home. Ann was born on January 14, 1930 in Siler City, NC, to the late Henry Jackson Stone and Laverna Walters Stone.
She moved to Raleigh in late 1940's and married the late, Donald Livingston Tew. They lived in Boylan Heights and then moved to the Brooklyn neighborhood on Glenwood Ave. in the in the 1950's. Ann graduated from Rex Nursing School and worked for many years at Rex Hospital and Dorothea Dix Hospital. For over 53 years she owned and operated Baby Inn nursery, lovingly taking care of thousands of pre-school children. She was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in downtown Raleigh.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by four siblings, Dot, Betty, Jack and Jim.
She is survived by her two devoted sons, Ricky Livingston Tew of Raleigh and Rocky Tew and his wife, Rhonda of Garner; her brother, Ed Stone and his wife, Gloria of Murrells Inlet, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to Ann's wishes, there will be no service planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to either, Tabernacle Baptist Church, 8304 Leesville Rd. Raleigh, NC 27613, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 5171 Glenwood Ave. #101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
