Elizabeth, native to Harnett and Sampson Co. NC, was born May 22, 1929 to the late Harvey Crawford Wooten and Clyda (West) Wooten.
Elizabeth (Lib) was a proud graduate and valedictorian of Westbrook School in 1947. She then proceeded to and graduated from Harbarger Business College in Raleigh. Her love of Raleigh was firmly established and after a few short years of residing and working in Rocky Mount, she realized her dream of returning to Raleigh. She quickly found employment and began a lifelong career with Carolina Power and Light (CP&L) which was acquired by Duke Energy at the end of her career. Lib was a true and loyal friend to many at CP&L and enjoyed many adventures of travel and family celebrations with her work family. Lib was also a very dedicated daughter to her mother, Clyda West Wooten, who resided with Lib for many decades. The mother-daughter duo enjoyed many travel adventures and family celebrations together, as well. Although, traditional by today’s standards, Lib’s independent style of living and travel was quite admirable in time period context. When not planning travel adventures Lib, enjoyed the simple pursuits of reading, cooking and family. She had a great love of children, education and her fur babies, Wiggles and Demi. Lib was a very active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Raleigh, and the church’s Keenagers and Friday Lunch Bunch groups. Lib will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents Harvey Crawford Wooten and Clyda West Wooten, her brother Angus Wilton Wooten, her sisters Daphne Wooten Searles and Louretha Wooten Knight, and her nephew Frank Searles, Jr.
