Elizabeth was born June 6, 1941, at Mary Elizabeth Hospital on Person Street in Raleigh, to the late Addie E. Ezzell and Edward W. Adams. She attended Wiley and Lewis Elementary Schools, and Hugh Morson Jr. High School, located on New Bern Avenue, where the Federal Building is located. She graduated from Needham Broughton High School, and attended Hardberger Business College.
Elizabeth's entire career was with the State of North Carolina and the City of Raleigh. She worked for the Raleigh Revenue Collections Office, the City Clerk's Office, and the NC Department of Revenue, Intangibles Tax Division, retiring on June 1, 1995.
In her spare time, Elizabeth taught cake decorating at Michael's in Cary, and at AC Moore in Raleigh. She enjoyed travelling, taking several trips 'across the pond'. Ann was a very active member of her community and neighborhood. She never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. She will be missed by all of her friends, including those in the Riverwood development in Clayton, where she relocated to in 2007.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 12:30pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, with Pastor Bryant Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park at 2:00pm. The family will receive visitors prior to the service in the funeral home, beginning at 11:30am.
