Elayne Lott Chubb, moved on to her heavenly home on her late husband’s earthly birthday, Saturday, June 17, 2023. She was born in Waycross, Georgia to John A. Lott and Eunice M. Bevan. She lived most of her life in the Maitland/Winter Park, Florida area, but she spent her last years with her daughter in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Although born in Georgia, she moved to the Central Florida area as a young child living in a small cabin on Lake Killarney. She graduated from Winter Park High School in 1950, where she fell in love with the love of her life, the late Albert Houston Chubb, who passed away in 1995. They were married for 43 years at the time of Al’s death. Most of her early adulthood was spent as a homemaker, lovingly caring for her husband and three children. She supported Al in his careers as bank president and founder/manager of WAJL (We Acclaim Jesus Lord) Christian radio station. Al and Elayne shared a passion for the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Together, they visited Israel on numerous occasions. In her mid-to-late fifties, she was employed by Calvary Assembly of God Church in Winter Park as the Coordinator/Office Manager for their counseling center. She worked full-time for the counseling center for approximately twenty years before retiring in her mid-seventies.
Elayne outlived most of her closest loved ones: her husband, Albert Chubb; son, Kevin Chubb; daughter, Teresa Chubb; as well as her sisters, Jackye Zenzel and Beverly Lott. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Jim Holden: daughter-in-law, Susan Chubb; nephew, Ken Zenzel: niece, Beverly Kelly; six grandchildren (Dawn Sipley and her husband, Jason; Jameson Holden and his wife, Meghan; Mitchell Chubb and his wife, Elie’se; Devon Pelto; Austin Chubb and his wife, Vanessa; Kelsey Chubb, and seven great-grandchildren.
Elayne was known for her sweet, loving nature. Above all, everyone knew that her First Love was her Lord Jesus Christ. She displayed the love of Jesus to all in her presence. She never hesitated to tell her loved ones that she loved them and she always enjoyed giving hugs. She will be greatly missed, but her surviving loved ones are grateful that God has rescued her from her suffering. We are celebrating with her as she is now face to face with her First Love and joins her numerous loved ones who preceded her to heaven.
A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Ken Stutts, was held on June 24, 2023 at Glen Haven Memorial Park in Winter Park, Florida. Providentially, Elayne passed away on Al’s birthday and was buried on the anniversary of the death of her youngest daughter, Teri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pastor Ken Stutt’s associated ministries at Heart of Titus Ministries, Inc., P.O. Box 121727, Clermont, Florida 34712 or Calvary Assembly of God, 1199 Clay Street, Winter Park, Florida 32789.
