Edith Mae Jackson (84) went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 12, 2021. This vibrant and valiant lady had a love of life and depth of Spirit that drew all who met her. She faced every challenge with courage, each day with joy and never waivered in her love and devotion to her Lord and Savior. Edith was a seeker, a watcher, a teacher, a counselor, an author and a minister. She was also a true friend to many, a loving wife to Herbert Dean Jackson (dec.), a wonderful mother to her four children, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Edith was born in Blue Diamond, KY to the late Maude and Manuel Bowling. She had a younger sister, Goldie Kennedy (dec.). At age 12 she moved with her parents to New Mexico and Arizona, where she eventually married and started her family. Once in Raleigh, NC she joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church where she faithfully served as Prayer Minister for many years.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Diane Taylor Martin and her husband Ed Martin; her son, James Allen Taylor and his wife Wendy Taylor; daughter, Lynda Collins and her husband Glenn Collins; daughter, Bobbi Jackson Atkinson and her husband Mark Atkinson; her grandson, Joshua Collins and wife Melissa Collins; granddaughter, Lauren Dean Jackson and her two great-grandchildren, Jameson Glenn and Emma Clementine Collins.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 23rd at 4:00 pm. All who knew and loved Edith are invited. She will be greatly missed but never gone from our hearts.
