A native of South Carolina, Dwayne grew up in Jonesville, SC where he also attended and graduated from Jonesville High School. He excelled in athletics and academics and went on to receive a degree in Engineering from DeVry Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. Dwayne later enlisted in the US Army and then proudly as a Reservist.
He was a man of faith, with a big smile and genuine spirit making friends everywhere he went. He was a true outdoorsman that enjoyed sports, golfing, fishing and bowhunting.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Sam and Lillian Jones; maternal grandmother Jessie Garrett and two brothers Ronald A. Jones and Dennis L. Reed.
He leaves to cherish fond memories to his loving wife of 19 years Joya Whitehead- Jones; one son Sherron Dwayne Jones of College Park GA; two granddaughters Aubrey and Marley; six sisters Carol (Ricky) Fernandez, Sr. of Jonesville, SC, Yvette Jones of Chesnee, SC, Lillian (Chuck) Wilson of Boiling Springs, SC, Cheryl (Dennis) Webb of Spartanburg, SC, Carla (Ray) Lynch of Chapel Hill, NC and Yolanda (Durant) Davis of Spartanburg, SC; four brothers Paul Reed of Spartanburg, SC, John Reed of Boiling Springs, SC, Furman Jones Jr of Spartanburg, SC, and Pelzer (Trina) Jones of Spartanburg, SC; three aunts, six uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and may other friends whose lives he touched.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home at Raleigh Memorial Park. A Reception will follow the service.
