Rev. Dr. Kimmick was born on September 15, 1932. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, attended seminary at Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, and received a doctorate in education from Columbia University. He was a devoted Episcopal priest, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Rev. Dr. Kimmick served as rector of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Midland Park, New Jersey for 29 years, where his deep faith, compassionate spirit, and unwavering commitment touched countless lives. His sermons inspired, his counsel comforted, and his leadership guided the congregation through many seasons of both joy and challenge.
After his tenure at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Rev. Dr. Kimmick spent 10 years as Chaplain at the Seamen’s Church Institute, providing spiritual support to those at sea. His work there was a testament to his dedication to extending God’s love to all corners of the community.
Over the years, Rev. Dr. Kimmick taught at St Peters College in Jersey City and Bergen Community College in New Jersey, and High Point University in North Carolina. He also was a licensed family counselor, in order to contribute guidance to families in need and helping them navigate life's difficulties with grace and compassion.
Rev. Dr. Kimmick was well-loved and respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Genevieve; his son, Adam; his daughter, Gretchen; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Nativity, 8849 Ray Rd, Raleigh, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11am. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his alma mater, Trinity College, Hartford, CT in his honor, or to the Episcopal Relief and Development Fund.
