Dennis Wayne Godwin

Dennis was born in Smithfield, North Carolina on March 16, 1947. He graduated from Four Oaks High School.

Dennis was married to Linda on July 28,1972; they were married 51 years.

Dennis worked as a Superintendent for Duke Construction for 5 years. He was a business owner of DG Construction for 20 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, racing and loving his wife. He was also actively involved in church.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Linda; one surviving child, Allen Godwin and fiancé Bridgette Tyson:10 grandchildren, Justin Johnson and spouse Mikki Whitney of Buffalo New York, Ashley and Joseph Spero, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, Casey Godwin of Garner, North Carolina, ,Josh Godwin of Spring Hope, North Carolina, Nicholas Hinnant of Louisburg, North Carolina, Jordan Godwin of Wilson, North Carolina, Jeremy Godwin of Bailey, North Carolina, Kelly and Sara Godwin of Salisbury, North Carolina and Skyler Godwin of Fuquay-Varina North Carolina;11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Pam Jordan and Sharon Pate; several nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

Dennis is preceded in death by 3 children, Crystal Godwin, Michelle Godwin and Jerry Godwin; one granddaughter, Dreamer Godwin; his biological father, Bernice Godwin; his mother, Josephine Lee and father, Norwood Lee.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27609.

The celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 12:00pm at Christ Sanctified Holy Church, 9050 Strickland Road Raleigh, North Carolina 27615.

Burial will follow the service at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh, North Carolina.

Kenneth Hagan of Christ Sanctified Holy Church will be officiating the service.

Dennis always put God first and lived by these three words; Live, Laugh, and Enjoy.
