Debra native to Dayton & Kettering, Ohio was born to Donald and Helen Barber.
Her accomplishments were many. She was co-valedictorian of her high school class. Debra spent several years as a teacher in the Peace Corps in Colombia, South America; worked as an analyst specializing in Latin America with the US Department of Defense in Washington DC; and later became a social worker with a practice in Alexandria, VA.
Debra received a BS in Special Education & Spanish from Eckerd College, an MA in Foreign Relations from George Washington University, and an MS in Social Work from Catholic University. She was an active member of the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) and a passionate advocate for rights of the handicapped. She also loved music and was an accomplished musician, playing several musical instruments.
Debra is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Donald Barber.
Debra is survived by her daughter, Teresa Chandler; and her brothers, Jim, Dan and Don Barber.
She was a very special person who will truly be missed. A Memorial Service will be held
10:30am-12:00pm on November 9 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook
