His first teaching job was at Oak Ridge Military Academy. While there, he met his beloved Nancy, and married her in 1955. Dr. Weaver was a life-long Methodist and a liberal Democrat. He was an ardent supporter and defender of public education. He pitied education’s reactionary enemies while working steadfastly to enlighten their children.
Dr. Weaver enjoyed learning about the universe and its origins. He strived to understand the Creator’s purpose for humanity, and the mechanics by which the cosmos operated. He favored the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Alfred Tennyson, and Kahlil Gibran. He read voraciously until retinitis pigmentosa diminished his eyesight, preferring biographies, history, and science texts to fiction. He loved science-fiction movies.
