Cassie Hinnant Glover, 93 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2017. She was a faithful wife, amazing mother, and the world’s best “Buba” who will be dearly missed. Most of all she was a child of God. Cassie was born in Johnston County to the late Hartwell Hinnant and Pearl W. Strickland. She was married to her loving husband of 57 years, James Ed Glover (Granddaddy) who preceded her in death on April 17, 2017.
Cassie had a long career in the retail shoe business where she served numerous generations in the greater Raleigh area; she worked for Brittians Shoes and Roscoe Griffin Shoes prior to her retirement in the early 90’s. Cassie served as a faithful member at Crabtree Valley Baptist Church, Raleigh.
Cassie is known for her many passions but her favorite was spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with Granddaddy, especially going to their beach homes. She served faithfully beside Ed supporting the Shriners and Elks and she was a member of the Eastern Star. Her love of children also extended to the boys and girls at the Oxford Orphanage. Another great passion was working in her yard and she loved helping her family in their yards. She leaves a lasting legacy of family, friendship, and love that she created during her lifetime. She will always be remembered affectionately as “Buba.”
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hinnant. She is survived by her two children, Carolyn (Dwight) Woodlief of Rolesville and Larry Scarboro of Raleigh; grandchildren, Kimberly Woodlief, Sandy (Vann) Pair, Landy Massey, Donald (Jaime) Scarboro, Bonnie Kornegay and Paul Scarboro; 6 great-grandchildren and her brother, Worth (Faye) Hinnant of Jacksonville, NC.
A Home Going Celebration with be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 2:00 PM, Crabtree Valley Baptist Church, 4408 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC, with visitation prior at 1:00 PM. The Rev. J. Charles Allard will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at other times at the Glover home.
The family will be forever grateful for the excellent care, love and support of special caregivers Deborah Pearce, Lois Brown and Lori Whitley.
