Ava Culbreth Reaves, 95, died at her home at Oaks of Whitaker Glen on Monday October 8, 2012 after a brief period of declining health. She was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina where she lived with her husband Carson Culbreth and two sons.
Mrs. Reaves was the first full-time female real estate agent in Fayetteville, North Carolina where she spent her Fayetteville career employed with Player, Inc. Her successful career was often attributed to astute business capabilities and skills, her uncompromising love for people, and her joy in assisting individuals with their real estate needs. She never lost her zest for life or her love for meeting people. Her loving, gentle presence will be greatly missed.
Ava was predeceased by her husband Carson Culbreth (1970), her second husband Hubert D. Reaves, both parents, Walter and Mamie Bryant, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by her sons Kenneth Culbreth, Carson Douglas Culbreth and wife Phyllis, and granddaughters P. Devan and Dianna Culbreth both of Raleigh and Lou Carson Culbreth of Atlantic Beach, NC plus loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves a special thank you to her attentive care giver, Becky Boye and the entire staff of Whitaker Glenn.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, from 10 –11:00 am at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. followed by a Celebration of her Life Service at 11:00 am in the Hayes Barton Baptist Chapel. A graveside service and interment will be at 3:00 pm, LaFayette Cemetery in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
