He is survived by his two daughters, Rachel Goetze, of the home, and Karen Buckner, of Cedar Grove; three grandchildren, Hannah, Jesse, and Johnny; one great-grandchild, Alex; two brothers, David Goetze (JoAnn) of Waynesboro, VA, Kenny Goetze (Debra) of Zebulon; three sisters, Sarah Hyatt of Charleston, SC, Roslyn Currin (Madison) of Butner, and Beth Huff (Dave) of Clayton; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife Phyllis, a grandson James, and a granddaughter, Zoe.
Bennie was a graduate of NC State University and served the state of North Carolina as a civil engineer for many years, working in the department of Construction Grants.
He was an ordained minister and was affiliated with Campers on Mission. With the help of his wife Phyllis, for over 20 years, he held services and activities at Surf City Campground.
He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for the children at the Tammy Lynn Center in Raleigh as well as wearing his red and white outfit while collecting food for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina during the holiday season.

A visitation for Bennie will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road in Raleigh. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday with burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
