Anne Carter Sprinkle, Jr. passed away at her home on October 11, 2023 at the age of 74. She was born on July 10, 1949. Anne was pre-deceased by her parents Ralph and Anne Sprinkle, her husband Robert Ramsay, sister Susan, and brother Butch.
Anne was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and grew up in Fayetteville and Raleigh. She graduated from Broughton High School in 1967, and from NC State University (NCSU) in 1972 with double B.S. degrees in Wildlife Biology and Wildlife Conservation. Anne worked for over eleven years as a technician in the Animal Science Department at NCSU. In the mid 1980’s, Anne enrolled as a graduate student in the College of Design at NCSU, specializing in textile design and received a Masters of Product Design in May,1988.
Since 1988, Anne was a self-employed artist. For almost a decade, she worked primarily with textiles using techniques such as dying, painting, printing, and sewing. In the late 1990’s, her focus shifted to creating jewelry with numerous unique creations for individual tastes. Anne inherited her artistic talents from her mother, as did her siblings.
Anne had an infectious laugh and giggle, and loved to bake and cook. Her homemade potato salad was a family favorite and always requested at family gatherings, as were her pumpkin and sweet potato pies at holiday events. These will be as sorely missed as she is.
Anne is survived by her brothers Jim (Alice), Michael (Karen), sister Marlene (Richard), sister-in-law Freddie, and fourteen nieces and nephews.
A memorial service in her honor will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1:00 pm. in the chapel of Hayes Barton Baptist Church, located at 1800 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC.
