Ann Olsen Britt

She was born on July 23, 1950, daughter of the late John Hardman Olsen and the late Ellen Patricia Swart (nee Norma M. Barnhill). Ann grew up in Wilmington, NC. She graduated from New Hanover High School and attended Wilmington College.

Ann was a proud stay-at-home mom of her two sons who predeceased her, David Christopher Britt (1975-1993) and Michael Alan Britt (1976-1982).

Ann lived in Columbia, SC from 1972 until she moved to Raleigh, NC in 1985. While in Columbia, she was a strong La Leche League supporter and served on the board of Child Evangelism Fellowship. She was a member of Columbia Evangelical Church. In Raleigh, she was a member of Providence Church where she attended virtually.

Ann worked at the AE Finley YMCA from shortly after she moved to Raleigh until her later years. She crocheted many items for cancer patients in Raleigh.

She is predeceased by her sister, Olsen Lee Gardner (nee Doris Marie Olsen) and survived by her brother, Darren Swart, his wife Cindy and daughter Brianna in Kernersville, NC and Aunt Peggy Olsen in Wilmington, NC.

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving support from extended family and friends who were so supportive during her extended illness.

A memorial service for Ann will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any research that serves to fight cancer.
